West Wallsend

Each week we will be highlighting one of our surrounding suburbs with some information about the suburb for potential buyers looking at the area. This week’s suburb is West Wallsend

West Wallsend, located in the western Lake Macquarie area, has a population of approximately 2240 (at 2016 Census). 
West Wallsend features a primary school, which was opened in November 1889, and West Wallsend High School was opened in 1964. 
This lovely suburb features a mixture of older style houses and new houses, with a great mix of people of all ages in the area. 
West Wallsend features an IGA, West Wallsend Workers Club, multiple take away food outlets and West Wallsend Swim Centre. 
The suburb has a lovely relaxed feel, while being close to the freeway and only 30 minute drive to Newcastle CBD.

Each week we will be highlighting one of our surrounding suburbs with some information about the suburb for potential buyers looking at the area. This week’s suburb is KILLINGWORTH

The small suburb of Killingworth (established 1892) is west of Barnsley and south of West Wallsend and Holmesville is 23km from Newcastle City. Killingworth has a population of 679 people (Census 2016). Killingworth was originally a coal mining town, with the last coal mined at West Wallsend Colliery in 2016. 

Killingworth features a lovely children’s playground, great for the growing family.

Killingworth Hotel opened in October 1891 and was in operation until November 1970. Sydney Emanuel was the longest running publican at Killingworth Hotel, from 1930-1961. It is now a lovely private residence.

Barnsley 

Each week we will be highlighting one of our surrounding suburbs with some information about the suburb for potential buyers looking at the area. This week’s suburb is Barnsley.

The suburb of Barnsley, located in Western Lake Macquarie, nestled in between Edgeworth and Holmesville, is 21kms west of Newcastle CBD. Barnsley has a population of approximately 1747 (at 2016 Census).

The suburb of Barnsley has a small school, Barnsley Public School, a local Early Education Centre and a preschool.
Barnsley is also home to the Barnsley Football Club and Mount Sugarloaf Pony Club. 
Other features include a family friendly playground, large sporting ovals, large dog park and local takeaway shop.

This lovely suburb is a great place to raise a family.

Holmesville

Each week we will be highlighting one of our surrounding suburbs with some information about the suburb for potential buyers looking at the area. This week’s suburb is Holmesville.

Holmesville is names after Joseph Holmes, who founded Holmesville Historic Town in 1898. Holmesville Memorial Park in Appletree Road was named in memory of Joseph Holmes.

The quiet suburb of Holmesville located in Western Lake Macquarie, nestled in between Barnsley and West Wallsend, is 21kms west of Newcastle CBD. Holmesville has a population of approximately 1365 (at 2016 Census).

Holmesville features a NSW Fire Station, Holmesville Hotel, a great playground for children, large oval and skate park. 
Holmesville is also the home town of Miss Universe 2004 - Jennifer Hawkins! 

This smaller suburb is quiet, peaceful and a great place to raise a family!
